Characteristics: A colourless to pale yellow liquid with a sweet-spicy,
warming fragrance and a woody-balsamic undertone.
Blends well with: Rose, olibanum, orange, bergamot, cinnamon,
cloves, caraway, ylang ylang, labdanum, cedarwood, orange blossom and
oriental bases in general.
Medicinal Properties: Antiseptic, antimicrobial, aphrodisiac, astringent,
antispasmodic, digestive, diuretic, settles digestive, helps with flatulence,
stimulate saliva, tonic
Safety Precautions: Nontoxic, nonirritant, non-sensitizing. Do not take
internally.
Cardamom, also spelled Cardamom and Cardomom, is a gentle oil ideal for
colic, cramps, indigestion, vomiting, nausea, mental fatigue and nervous
strain. It is mainly used as a digestive remedy because of its soothing,
antispasmodic properties. It has been a part of Indian Ayurvedic medicine
for thousands of years. It has a warming quality similar to ginger. In
India, cardamon is reported to be an aphrodisiac.
